New iPod with video - no support remote control?

That's curious - it looks like the new iPod with video doesn't have a port for the remote control anymore.

I noticed this on the nano as well.

Apple's page on the remote confirms this:

I have mixed feelings on this. I actually bought the remote for my 3rd gen and thought it was overpriced - and was a bit irked that it came with the -same- crappy headphones that I already had with the iPod. Since then, I've used the remote like twice because it was always hard to orient, and was a bit cumbersome. Still, it was nice to have this as an option.

It's a bit ironic that Apple introduced a remote for the iMac on the same day. I wish Apple would come up with a better solution for the iPod. :)

Apple's site shows the new iPod's dock with a receiver for remote control. Apple's remote will go on sale as a separate item in a couple of weeks for

I use my remote all the time; my one complaint is that between the remote and my ER6i phones, I have about 9' of cord to deal with. If Apple's going to make a separate remote, I guess that's OK (even though it's one more thing I'd have to buy if I trade up.)
